DBV VS EVT DERBY FACE-OFF 18 JUNE 2022
These friendly rivals came together on Saturday 18 June to fight it out. This was a regular and well contested annual event 30 years ago and it would be great if this old tradition can be revived.
It was time for old friends and rivals to get together to enjoy a day of fun, food and drink, and for the Top 20 of each club to thrash it out on the squash courts.
Durbanville was the overall winner with 41 points to 39. Cannot get much closer than that! I can see a return challenge coming on.
A shout out to the organisers Chris Goslin, George Ho and Shaun Venter, and a huge thank you to the generous sponsors who helped make this an event to be remembered:
Vantage Sports for sponsoring the racquet, squash balls and shirts for the winners.
AMC Cookware for sponsoring prizes like the trophy serving board, and goodies such as the wristbands as well as the wors rolls.
Rejuven8 for sponsoring R350 treatment vouchers towards the doubles section prizes.
Joe’s Kitchen for sponsoring the 3 massive platters for the day/evening.
More squash coming up! Watch out for notifications coming your way.

PUB TOURNAMENT FEEDBACK
With our PUB TOURNAMENT we asked for your feedback on how we performed. According to you, we performed excellently in most areas, except for service in the Bar. We took note, and are committed to improving our service levels significantly. We have met with our bar staff and have impressed upon them the need for friendly, smiling, prompt service. Please drop me a line to let me know how we are doing.
UPGRADE OF MENS CHANGING ROOM AND OTHER PROJECTS
In May we informed you that we would be starting with the upgrade of the Mens Changing Room. Please be advised that we have decided to put all projects on hold for now until we can assess the impact of load-shedding on our finances.
Our priority is to keep the lights on, and the fuel and servicing costs of the generator have placed an undue burden on the operating costs. We are examining options on how to overcome this untenable situation and we will keep you informed of progress.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
As always you are welcome to contact me via email at chairperson@dbvsquash.co.za to share your thoughts about any of the items above, or anything else relating to the Club.
