Our 50th birthday bash is only a few days away. A reminder of the full schedule can be found here.
To make our birthday celebration a success, one of the most important factors is member participation. Our member are encouraged to participate in one or more of the following events and activities:
** The Legends format squash tournament takes place from 8.45 am – 11.45 am on Saturday 19th. This is a fun, high octane, short game format, and is open to all members but limited to the first 30 entrants. If you are eager to play, please enter using the entry form (link below). You need to be 100% committed, as the draw depends on all participants being present. If you cannot commit to playing, no problem, you are welcome to join us later to watch all the other squash matches on offer or join later in the evening for rugby and fun at the Club bar.
Please fill in this entry form to enter the Legends Tournament
** The Potjie Competition in 2021 was a huge success. We are hoping for an even better turn out this year. We welcome members to enter to make any potjie you want. You’ll have a chance to walk away with the coveted “Potjie Master“ trophy. The Club will contribute R300 (paid into your lights account or in cash) to all potjie chef participants. (The R300 payment is a contribution to the ingredients purchased.)
To enter as a Potjie Chef, please complete this form (cutoff on Friday 11 November at 12pm or earlier if we receive enough entrants)
For those coming to taste and judge the potjies, please note that the potjie’s are intended primarily to be small “taster” portions. There will likely be plenty of different pots to test. Baguettes and rice will also be provided as well as boerie rolls. (All provided by the Club as part of our Birthday Bash celebration.)
** We are making special limited edition Club shirts to celebrate our 50th birthday (thank you, George). These shirts will cost R230 each. This is made up of R180 manufacture cost and a R50 donation to The Phoenix Project. The Phoenix Project is a fantastic initiative started by the Club to introduce 6 boys and girls (aged from 9-11yrs) to the game of squash, and mentoring and training them to be players of the future. The boys and girls are selected from the Durbanville Children’s Home, which is one of the oldest Children’s homes in South Africa, dating back to 1883.
To order the 50th Birthday shirts, please fill out the form below. We have pre-made 20 shirts and these we will sell on a first come first serve basis and will hand them out on Saturday 19th November. All orders after the initial 20, will take an extra week and will be ready for collection from Shaun at the club.
