We have received provisional guidelines from WP Squash about the opening of squash clubs. The committee is in the process of implementing these required directives, that remains subject to final approval by government. We can therefore not issue final guidelines to our members.
Our club is situated on City of Cape Town Municipality grounds. Therefore we need to obtain their permission to open the club and remove the gate at the entrance to the car park.
Some sports clubs (e.g. golf, tennis ,etc.) have already opened. The opening date for squash was widely published to be 1 July 2020. On 24 June 2020 Squash SA sent all Squash SA members (generally all league players are members of Squash SA) an email about the opening of the squash clubs. The clubs will open in phases as from 1 July 2020. The document sent by Squash SA must still be approved by government. The DBV Squash committee will inform you once approval has been made.
All members will be required to complete an indemnity form before they may return to the courts.
Submitting the indemnity form is compulsory for any member who wishes to resume access to the club and squash courts. Members with multiple family members as part of their membership must ensure an indemnity form is submitted for EVERY member who will resume play.
Please take note of the following to clarify the club position to avoid incorrect information from causing confusion:
- The bar area will remain closed until further notice. No socialising at the club will be permitted.
- WP Squash will not implement any form of league before all clubs are opened.
- Members can rest assured that we shall keep you informed via the website, email, etc as to the various precautions, requirements and overall strategy once all necessary documents have been received. The committee will do everything in our power to get our members back on the court ASAP !
WE WILL REQUIRE ALL MEMBERS TO ABIDE BY THE RULES TO KEEP THE CLUB OPEN.
